Services

TUTORING:  Assessments will be given to determine areas of need and levels for instruction.  Tutoring will focus on needs as identified in the assessment as well as needs  identified by the child’s teacher.  A TEAM approach will be used with emphasis on communication with parents  and teachers.

ACHIEVEMENT ASSESSMENTS:  Achievement Assessments will be given to determine grade levels of achievement in Reading and Math.  Parents will be advised of areas of need as well as what services are and are not available in the public school setting.

DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENTS:  Developmental Assessments will be given to determine developmental readiness for Kindergarten or 1st grade.

SCREENINGS:  Initial screenings for ADHD, depression, and anxiety are offered.  If an at-risk situation is indicated, parents will be advised to seek treatment from a psychologist, psychiatrist, or pediatrician.

COUNSELING:  Most childhood issues can be resolved rather quickly with solution-focused coaching/counseling.  The parents will be highly involved in reinforcing new behaviors and reshaping faulty thinking.  Parents will be coached on techniques to accelerate needed changes as well as techniques for maintenance once the sessions have ended.

CONSULTATION:  Parent consultations are for the purpose of offering techniques for dealing with various parenting issues and concerns.  Consultations may also help parents decide if a concern is significant enough to seek treatment or assistance.
